Zhoukou travel guide
Zhoukou lies in southeastern Henan Province, at the confluence of the Sha, Ying, and Jialu Rivers. It administers 8 counties, 1 city, and 1 district, covering 11,900 square kilometers. The municipal government is seated in Chuanhui District. Local residents are predominantly Han Chinese, speaking Henan dialect.
Zhoukou was the ancient capital of Fuxi and hometown of Laozi. Known as the "Pioneer of Chinese Civilization" and "Holy Land of the Nine Provinces", it is honored by the China Fuxi Cultural Research Association as the "Cradle of Chinese Culture".
Zhoukou's landscape is characterized by expansive plains. The Ye’s Manor, a classic “saddle-shaped building”, was the mansion of prominent businessman Ye Hairong. Though only one courtyard remains today, the ancient charm and exquisite architecture are well preserved.
Zhoukou's harmonious blend of natural beauty and historic heritage offers visitors a window into the origins of Chinese civilization.
