Da Hinggan Ling stretches over 1,200 km long and 200-300 km wide in northeastern Heilongjiang Province and Inner Mongolia at elevations of 1,100-1,400 meters. The highest peak is Suoyierji Mountain.

Densely forested with primeval woods, main trees include Dahurian larch, Manchurian pine, Siberian spruce, white birch, Mongolian oak and mountain poplar. It is a vital forestry base in China.
