Jiangchuan Gushan Scenic Area
An Introduction to Gushan Island Scenic Area, Jiangchuan, Yuxi
Nestled within the breathtaking expanse of Fuxian Lake, Gushan Island stands as a singular jewel—the lake's only island. Located in the southern part of Fuxian Lake, this approximately 60,000-square-meter island holds a distinguished reputation. It is unique among the five major lakes of central Yunnan and is considered the premier island across Yunnan's numerous plateau lakes, rightfully earning the title "Yunnan's Number One Island."
Despite its modest size of around 80 mu (about 5.3 hectares), Gushan Island boasts an exceptional and strategic location. Its terrain is dramatically steep, particularly on the eastern, southern, and northern sides, where cliffs soar over 20 meters above the water's surface, creating a striking and formidable natural fortress.
A Landscape of Captivating Beauty and Natural Wonders
What Gushan Island may lack in size, it more than compensates for with its extraordinary charm and captivating scenery. The island is renowned for its ten naturally formed scenic spots, each with its own poetic name and character, collectively establishing it as a must-visit destination and a site celebrated as the "Finest Scenery East of Yunnan."
