Shinao Mountain Park in Yangquan: A Tribute to Heroic Valor
Situated in the southwestern part of Yangquan City, approximately 10 kilometers from the city center, and boasting an elevation of 1500 meters, Shinao Mountain Park stands as a solemn testament to the historic "Hundred Regiments Offensive" during the Anti-Japanese War. Construction of the park commenced in April 1986, reaching completion in 1987, covering an expansive area of 1,322,534.4 square meters, with the "Hundred Regiments Offensive Memorial Monument Group" occupying 16,665 square meters. The park is divided into four main sections: the mountain-top platform, Beifeng Long, Dao Ren Liang, and General La.
Shinao Mountain Forest Park is dedicated to commemorating the heroic achievements of the Eighth Route Army in the "Hundred Regiments Offensive." The surroundings of the monument group and the overall landscape are designed with a sense of solemnity and reverence. The majority of the park utilizes natural terrain for distinct landscaping, with each area featuring unique characteristics. In the central and southern parts, mountains are excavated to create lakes, and pavilions are constructed. The entire park is adorned with ancient, elegant garden architecture and embellishments.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan, the "Hundred Regiments Offensive Memorial Monument" was completed on August 15, 1995. The exhibition hall spans an area of 301.4 square meters, with a total exhibition line of 173.27 meters. Since its opening, the memorial has welcomed more than 20,000 visitors, including central and municipal leaders, international guests, and tourists from all corners. The "Hundred Regiments Offensive Memorial Museum" has been designated as a provincial-level patriotism education base by the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government.
