Shuxiang Temple, with its roots tracing back to the Yuan Dynasty, stands proudly among the esteemed Five Meditation Places, alongside Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple, Pusa Peak, and Luo Hou Mountain. Recognized as one of the Ten Famous Temples in Qing Buddhism, it is said that the features of Emperor Qianlong himself inspired the sculpture of this sacred site. Spiritual Centerpiece: The main hall of Shuxiang Temple, known as the Wenshu Hall, houses the largest statue of Wenshu Bodhisattva in Wutai Mountain. Adorning the walls of the hall are intricate paintings depicting a congregation of five hundred Arhats, vividly illustrating the Buddhist Pure Land—a condensed representation of ancient India's spiritual realm. Notably, a statue of the renowned Chinese monk Ji Gong is said to reside on one of the pillars within the hall.

Sacred Spring - Prajna Spring: At the base of the temple's archway, a pristine spring named Prajna Spring flows, offering its visitors water that remains cool in summer and warm in winter. Regarded as a sacred spring, "Prajna Spring" holds a special place in the hearts of devout Buddhists. Wutai Mountain is adorned with numerous springs, including but not limited to Prajna Spring, Ma Pao Spring, White Sand Spring, Nectar Spring, Zhuoxi Spring, and Bright Moon Pool. Among them, Prajna Spring stands out as a cherished destination for religious reverence.

  • Bus: Take a bus from Taiyuan Passenger Transport East Station to Wutai Mountain. The journey takes approximately 4 hours.
  • Train: Three daily trains depart from Taiyuan Station to Wutai Mountain, with travel times ranging from 4 to 6 hours.
  • Intra-Scenic Area Transportation:
    • Eco-friendly vehicles shuttle visitors between scenic spots and hotels at a cost of 50 yuan per person.
    • To ascend Wutai Mountain, take the Ascend-the-Stage Car from Dailuo Ding, with a single ticket priced between 70-80 yuan.
