Mount Wutai Scenic Spot - Daluoding
Embarking on Spiritual Ascent at Dailuo Peak in Wutai Mountain Scenic Area, Xinzhou
Nestled in the heart of Wutai Mountain's central temple district, east of Taihuai Town, Dailuo Peak stands majestically on a steep ridge, serving as an abode for the veneration of Manjushri Bodhisattva. Accessible by foot or cable car, the journey to Dailuo Peak unfolds along the renowned "Da Zhi Road," comprised of 1080 steps spanning approximately 500 meters. Devotees believe this path leads to wisdom, bestowing intelligence and heightened awareness upon those who tread its course.
The Enchanting Landscape of Dailuo Peak: When viewed from below, the imposing mountain ridge reveals the emergence of a smaller peak midway up the slope. Veiled in perpetual mist, the mountain gate and archway of the summit temple blend harmoniously with the surrounding trees. Resembling a great spiral, the verdant summer foliage adorns the landscape in shades of deep blue, inspiring the name "Dailuo Peak" or "Dailuo Ding." The ancient temple within is known as Foding An.
Constructed during the Ming Dynasty in the Chenghua era, the temple complex houses an inscribed stele from the 15th year of the Qianlong reign (1750). Dailuo Peak uniquely consolidates the depictions of Manjushri Bodhisattva from the five summits, making it a destination where visitors can pay homage to all five representations in a single visit, earning it the moniker "Little Summit."
