East Terrace: A Glimpse into the Celestial Horizon at Wanghai Peak, Wutai Mountain
Nestled 10 kilometers east of Taihuai Town, East Terrace, also known as Wanghai Peak, rises majestically to an elevation of 2795 meters, covering an area of over 100 acres. The summit once hosted the Wanghai Pavilion, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
Scenic Splendor: During clear summer days, a dawn ascent unveils a mesmerizing spectacle—a boundless sea of clouds parting to reveal the fiery birth of the sun on the horizon. Poet and President of the Chinese Buddhist Association, Zhao Puchu, captured the essence of this scene in his 1981 poem: "At the summit of East Terrace, still wrapped in summer robes, the sky dons a robe of dawn to welcome the sunrise. Peaks rise, and clouds form a floating vessel, saturating the spirit of this sacred land."
