The Tangshan Earthquake Site Memorial Park began construction in April 2008 and opened to the public in July of the same year. Covering a total area of 400,000 square meters and with a total investment of 600 million yuan, it is the world's first earthquake site park with the theme of "memorial". The park's design fully embodies the concepts of "awing nature, caring for life, exploring science, and recalling history". With the original Tangshan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Factory railway as the vertical axis and the memorial avenue as the horizontal axis, it is divided into areas such as the earthquake site area, memorial water area, memorial forest area, and memorial plaza. The Earthquake Museum was completed in October 2009.

The Memorial Plaza within the park covers an area of 30,000 square meters, paved with black-and-white marble, and can accommodate tens of thousands of people for major events. It is an important place for people to commemorate their loved ones and mourn the deceased. Directly ahead of the plaza is the Memorial Water Area, covering 30,000 square meters. The theme sculptures within the water area are made of stone and bronze, using realistic sculptural language to showcase the vivid scenes of the Tangshan people facing difficulties together and enduring hardships during the disaster, inspiring people to cherish life and forge ahead with豪迈情怀.

The Tangshan Earthquake Victims Memorial Wall is composed of 5 groups of 13 walls, inscribed with the names of 240,000 compatriots who perished in the 1976 Tangshan earthquake. Each wall is 7.28 meters high, representing July 28th, and the wall is 19.76 meters away from the water surface, representing 1976,预示着逝者与生者的时间和空间的距离,forever reminding people of the heartbreaking day of July 28, 1976 for the people of Tangshan. Directly behind the north side of the memorial wall is a memorial forest covering an area of 140,000 square meters, with over 30,000 planted trees expressing the significance of life and commemoration.
