Yongzuo Temple
Founded in 1599, Yongzuo Temple stands as a testament to the rich heritage of Taiyuan. Nestled against the mountainside, the temple faces north, comprising three distinct sections: the front courtyard, rear courtyard, and pagoda courtyard.
The pagoda courtyard boasts the presence of twin pagodas, a traversing hall, and a rear hall. In the rear courtyard, visitors encounter the Grand Hall of the Great Hero, the Three Saints Pavilion, the Meditation Hall, and the Abbot's Residence.
Notably, the Grand Hall of the Twin Pagodas is an architectural marvel crafted entirely from brick, a meticulous imitation of wood construction. Devoid of traditional wooden beams, the entire structure is a masterpiece of intricate and grand brickwork. Over the ages, the Twin Pagodas of Yongzuo Temple have captured the admiration of many, earning the title of the "Jin Yang Wonder" and becoming an iconic symbol of Taiyuan. Various local historical records consistently designate the "Soaring Twin Pagodas" as one of the eight scenic wonders of ancient Taiyuan.
