The Temple of Our Lady
Welcome to the main hall of Jin Ci, the Holy Mother Hall. This sacred space is dedicated to the worship of Jiang Ziya's daughter, the wife of King Wu of Zhou, and the mother of King Cheng of Zhou, Lady Jiang.
Constructed during the Northern Song Dynasty, this hall boasts a nearly thousand-year history. What sets it apart is its unique architectural design – an absence of visible load-bearing columns within the hall. This distinctive construction creates a spacious interior, a rare feature in traditional architecture.
The highlight of the Holy Mother Hall is the Song Dynasty polychrome sculpture, a treasure that adorns the main altar. Notably, the lifelike statues of attendants, with their varied expressions, showcase the exceptional craftsmanship of the Song Dynasty.
For those seeking to visit, the Holy Mother Hall is situated in Taiyuan City. Access is convenient via various bus routes, including 301, 302, 308, 804, 848, and 856, with stops at the Jin Ci Park station.
Entrance to the Holy Mother Hall is included in the Jin Ci scenic area ticket. During the peak season (April 1 to October 31, Monday to Sunday), the Jin Ci ticket is priced at 95 RMB, while the off-peak season (November 1 to March 31 of the following year, Monday to Sunday) is 75 RMB.
The hall welcomes visitors from 08:00 to 18:00 during the peak season and from 08:30 to 17:00 during the off-peak season.
