Day 2: Urumqi Exploration - Heavenly Lake & Local Markets

Today's adventure begins with a scenic 120km drive northeast to visit the sacred Heavenly Lake (Tianchi). This magnificent alpine lake is surrounded by rugged pine and cypress forests, with crystal-clear meltwaters perfectly reflecting the snow-capped peaks of Mount Bogeda. After soaking in the breathtaking views, return to the city to explore the vibrant Erdaoqiao Grand Bazaar, the largest outdoor market in Urumqi, where you can experience local life and shop for traditional crafts.
Day 3: Urumqi to Burqin - Geological Wonders Expedition

Depart early for a full-day scenic drive to Burqin. En route, stop at Karamay to explore the fascinating Monster City, a natural Yardan landscape sculpted by wind erosion into formations resembling ancient castles and various animals. The area's eerie winds, which whistle like ghosts and wolves, have earned it the nickname "Wind City." Continue to Burqin to visit the spectacular Multicolored Stone Bay, composed of dozens of colorful hills and unusual rock formations. This area is not only visually stunning but also a natural treasure trove containing significant reserves of oil, gold, and precious stones.
Day 4: Burqin to Kanas - Entering the Fairy Tale Landscape

Today you'll journey to the crown jewel of Xinjiang - Kanas Lake. After arriving at Jiadengyu, enter the Kanas Lake Natural Reserve, a fairytale landscape known for its breathtaking mountain lake. "Kanas" means "lake in canyon" in Mongolian, and this deepest freshwater lake in China is famous for its Swiss-like scenery, home to 798 plant species and 117 bird varieties. The lake's colors change dramatically with the seasons, creating an ever-changing visual spectacle.
Take a 40-minute shuttle bus ride to Kanas Lake, enjoying stunning views of Jiadengyu Forest Park, Yaze Lake, Moon Bay, Wolong Bay, and Shenxian Bay along the way. You'll also have the opportunity to visit a Tuva Village within the scenic area, learning about this valiant ethnic minority's unique culture, language resembling Kazakh, and traditional lifestyle of hunting and grazing in their distinctive log houses.
Day 5: Kanas Lake Panoramic Views & Return to Burqin

Start your morning by climbing to the mountain summit to visit Guanyu Pavilion (Watch Fish Pavilion), an observation deck offering a spectacular panoramic view of the entire Kanas Lake. After further exploration of the scenic area, drive back to Burqin in the afternoon for overnight accommodation.
Day 6: Burqin to Urumqi - Scenic Return Journey
