Scale and Setting Meizi Lake is the defining feature of the park, stretching approximately 3.2 kilometers in length and covering a water surface area of about 600 mu (equivalent to nearly 100 acres). With a substantial water storage capacity of around 6.6 million cubic meters and an average depth of 15 meters, the lake presents a vast, mirror-like expanse that beautifully reflects the surrounding sky and forested hills. The primary impression for any visitor is one of profound tranquility and scenic grandeur, where the deep blue waters are seamlessly framed by the "cangcui" or lush, dark green hues of the encircling mountains. The main entrance gate itself is designed in the traditional "paifang" or memorial archway style. It is emblazoned with the five Chinese characters for "Meizi Lake Park," and is flanked by a poetic couplet that reads: "Wang Mei Jie Ke Yi, Jian Hu Shen Zi Liang." This translates evocatively to "Gazing at the plums quenches thirst; Seeing the lake naturally cools the body." This couplet perfectly encapsulates the park's dual appeal as a place for contemplative appreciation of nature (symbolized by the plum) and a refreshing escape from the heat.
