Located on the Genghis Khan Grasslands in Inner Mongolia's Ordos City, the Genghis Khan Mausoleum sits proudly, 70 kilometers from Dongsheng District. The Mongolian tradition of "secret burial" has shrouded the exact location of Genghis Khan's true tomb in mystery. The present mausoleum is a cenotaph, having undergone multiple relocations. It wasn't until 1954 that it was finally moved back to its original site in Inner Mongolia's Ejin Horo Banner from the Tar Temple in Huangzhong County. Positioned 185 kilometers north of Baotou City, the site boasts lush green grass, offering a spectacular view characteristic of the grasslands. Genghis Khan Mausoleum has now become a prominent tourist attraction in Inner Mongolia.

The Genghis Khan Sacrificial Ceremony is the most solemn and grandiose ritual among the Mongolian ethnic group, specifically aimed at the Genghis Khan Mausoleum, often referred to as the "Sacrifice to the Mausoleum." This ceremony includes regular, monthly, and seasonal rituals, all with fixed dates. Special ceremonies are held more than sixty times a year, featuring a complete array of sacrificial offerings, including whole sheep, sacred wine, and various dairy products, accompanied by elaborate ceremonial proceedings. The most significant and grandiose sacrificial event takes place on March 21st of the lunar calendar, known as the Spring Sacrifice. Representatives from all leagues and banners attend the ceremony at the Genghis Khan Mausoleum in Ejin Horo.
