Spanning the winding Jiuqu River in northwest Luxian County, Longnaobridge, also known as Longnaoshi, is a striking stone arch bridge built in the Ming Dynasty. Stretching 54 meters long and 4.5 meters tall, its 12 piers and 13 arches exhibit masterful masonry.
At the center, 8 piers sculpted with 2 qilin, 1 lion, 1 elephant, and 4 dragons compose a grand artistic ensemble in varied poses and imposing manner. Weathered by centuries, the green sandstone sculptures glimmer like bronze in dawn and dusk light. Contrasting the vibrant farmlands lining the riverbanks, Longnaobridge exemplifies Ming Dynasty craftsmanship.
Constructed in Hongwu reign, its bold yet intricate carvings of auspicious creatures inherit the stone carving traditions of Qin, Han, Tang, and Song eras. This magnificent 600-year-old bridge continues to impress all who cross its storied span.
