The village's unique charm stems from its harmonious integration with nature: springs emerge from the hillsides, lush bamboo groves thrive thanks to the abundant water, and generations of villagers have built their stone houses around these life-giving springs. With bamboo forests concealing quaint cottages, crystal-clear streams flowing past every household, fragrant orchards, and content, long-living residents, Zhuyuan Village stands as a quintessential "Peach Blossom Spring"—a utopian retreat rarely found in northern China.

Auspicious Geography and the Vital Spring The village is strategically positioned according to traditional Chinese Feng Shui principles, resting against the Jade Emperor Mountain (Yuhuang Shan) to the north, flanked by Stone Dragon Mountain (Shilong Shan) in the center, Phoenix Ridge (Fenghuang Ling) to the left, and the Xiangshan River to the right, with vast farmlands stretching out before it. At the heart of this auspicious setting is the namesake "Zhuyuan" spring, surrounded by dense bamboo. This spring is the soul of the village. Its water maintains a constant temperature year-round and is rich in over a dozen essential trace minerals. 2.2. Centuries of Legacy and Notable Residents With a history stretching back at least four centuries, the village is predominantly inhabited by the Gao family, followed by the Zhao family. Its historical significance is underscored by its connection to notable figures like Gao Mingheng, a Vice Minister of War in the late Ming Dynasty, and Gao Jiong, a ceremonial official at the Heng Princely Estate in Qingzhou. Both were members of the Gao clan and chose this very location to build their country villas to enjoy its natural delights. The foundations of these retreats still remain. According to the Gao family genealogy, the founding ancestor who settled here was Gao Mingshi, a cousin of Gao Mingheng. When he arrived, the village was still called Quanshang Village. Gao Mingheng himself sought refuge here from worldly affairs, building a thatched cottage and planting red plum trees. He is also said to have emulated the ancient literati tradition of the "Floating Wine Cup along the Winding Stream" (a poetic drinking game inspired by calligrapher Wang Xizhi) amidst the bamboo groves with friends and family.
