Shuanglin Temple, formerly known as Zhongdu Temple, presents itself as a castle-like structure with rammed earth walls enclosing the temple grounds. The temple boasts a well-preserved layout, featuring ten halls distributed across three courtyards. To the west lie the temple courtyards, while the east is adorned with scripture halls, meditation halls, and monk residences. Along the central axis, one encounters the Heavenly Kings Hall, Shakyamuni Hall, Great Buddha Hall, and the Hall of the Buddhist Mother.

The Shakyamuni Hall within Shuanglin Temple captivates with its simple yet elegant design. Adorning the temple's walls are mural paintings depicting the enlightenment of Shakyamuni Buddha, earning the temple the title of "Eastern Colored Sculpture Art Treasury" and the reputation of an "Ancient Sculpture Museum." The Luohan Hall, housing 18 vividly sculpted Arhats, stands as the pinnacle of the temple's colored sculptures.
