Jingzhou Pagoda: A Timeless Marvel in Hengshui

Jingzhou Pagoda stands as a testament to the rich history and remarkably preserved ancient architecture, nestled within the town of Chengguan in Jing County. Originally named the "Shakyamuni Sarira Stupa" and affectionately referred to as the Sarira Pagoda, it acquired the name Jingzhou Pagoda due to Jing County's historical connection to Jingzhou.

Rising proudly with thirteen tiers, this pagoda presents an octagonal pyramidal structure crafted with bricks and stones, reaching a towering height of 63.85 meters. The base has a circumference of 50.5 meters, showcasing the intricate design of this ancient tower.

Constructed with meticulous craftsmanship, the pagoda's foundation consists of resilient large, clear stones. Beneath the foundation lies a deep well, serving as an underground palace to house relics such as Buddha's remains, scriptures, Buddha statues, and precious gold and silver jewelry.

The body of the pagoda is meticulously assembled with blue bricks, featuring a spiral staircase with hundreds of steps ascending from the bottom to the very top. As visitors climb the steps, they experience a spiral ascent, eventually reaching the pinnacle of this architectural marvel.

Each tier of the pagoda boasts openings to the east, west, south, and north, complemented by arched corridors that encircle the structure. This design allows visitors to gaze outward through the openings, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Crowning this historic structure is a gourd-shaped top, cast in bronze and towering at a height of 2.05 meters. Beneath the gourd-shaped pinnacle, an iron wire mesh enclosure extends 3.3 meters. When the wind blows, the mesh and openings create a harmonious symphony, reminiscent of the roaring waves, earning it the moniker "Ancient Pagoda Wind Waves."
