Exploring the Splendor of Shuangta Mountain in Chengde

Welcome to Shuangta Mountain, a captivating natural wonder located approximately ten kilometers southwest of the renowned Chengde Mountain Resort. This mountain, one of Chengde's iconic peaks, holds a history dating back over 1300 years, marked by the construction of two ancient pagodas atop its summit by the Khitan people. The mystery surrounding the origin of these pagodas adds to the allure of this scenic spot.

The landscape within the Shuangta Mountain scenic area is a picturesque blend of lush forests, meandering streams, rugged rocks, and the delightful melodies of birdsong. Notably, the mountain has been graced by the presence of emperors such as Kangxi, Qianlong, and Jiaqing of the Qing Dynasty, as well as eminent scholars and officials.

At the pinnacle of the southern peak, there stands a brick pagoda that faces north. With a height of over 5 meters and a square base measuring more than 2 meters, this ancient structure boasts a history dating back a millennium. According to legend, it is believed to be a Liao Dynasty tomb pagoda. An intriguing feature is the presence of a Yun Ti, a wooden ladder with iron rods and copper bells, providing a means to ascend the pagoda. The structure, composed of blue bricks with meticulous craftsmanship, bears witness to the region's ancient architectural legacy.

Adjacent to the pagoda, the mountain reveals further treasures, including the Sanxian Taoist Temple, the Qibao Tower, the Lingfeng Ancient Garden, and cliffside stone carvings.
