Nestled atop the rugged terrain of the Taihang Mountains, the Huangyadong Cultural Tourism Zone stands at an impressive altitude of approximately 2008 meters. During the period of the Anti-Japanese War, this region served as the largest enemy-occupied munitions base in North China. In November 1941, the Battle of Huangyadong unfolded, shocking both domestic and international audiences. The heroic Chinese forces achieved an unprecedented victory against overwhelming odds, with a remarkable casualty ratio of 6:1.

The remnants of this historic battleground are scattered across the landscape, including the munitions factory workshops, supply and marketing cooperatives, factory guard quarters, ammunition depots, defensive fortifications, bunkers, trenches, generals' residences, soldiers' barracks, and the martyrs' cemetery. It stands as the most extensive and well-preserved national-level red-themed Anti-Japanese War site, often referred to as the "Anti-Japanese War Museum without Walls."

On March 22, 1985, the esteemed leader Deng Xiaoping inscribed the three characters "Huangyadong" with deep sentiment, a testament that continues to shine brightly. In July 1995, the former President Yang Shangkun revisited the site, leaving the inscription "Eighth Route Army's Huangyadong Munitions Factory." In August 1995, Liu Huacheng, former member of the Central Political Bureau Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, returned to Huangyadong, leaving the inscription "The spirit of Huangyadong forever radiant."

Today, Huangyadong stands as a national-level Anti-Japanese War site, a national patriotic education demonstration base, a cultural and educational base for China's defense science and technology industry, one of the first units listed in the National Industrial Heritage Catalog, a national red tourism classic, and a national primary and secondary school research and practical education base.
